Rolling through the game park with his trunk a-swinging
Sniffing out the animals upon the breeze
Swaying through the long grass as the sun is setting
Hear the birds and monkeys playing in the treesKeep those voices silent, it’s no time for talk
Watching out for tigers on the elephant walk
Wading through the river see the turtles swimming
Looking out for crocodiles among the rocks
Up upon the far bank hog and deer are running
Get a wink or two from a sly old fox
Keep those voices silent, it’s no time for talk
Watching out for tigers on the elephant walk
Back toward the compound as the day is ending
Hear some growls and trumpeting among the trees
Dismounting from the elephant, our legs unbending
Time for a chapati and a cup of tea
Hear the people chatting, now it’s time for talk
Recounting all our sightings on the elephant walk
Feeling very seasick I’m as white as chalk
And we didn’t see a tiger on the elephant walk!
