I have finally made it to the top of the KKH (Karakorumhighway)
and had a drink of Bulgarian slivovitch (my very last drop, saved for the occaision.) in company with a Belgian couple on Transalps when we reached the Chinese border. There were other
earthquake tremors en route and it is a tragedy to see the people living in tents as their houses are all destroyed, but the top part here is not affected and the scenery is glorious. The weather is holding and I hope
to get my visa renewed in war torn Gilgit on the way back as I am almost illegal now.Have to pass barbed wire road blocks and armed soldiers to get to the passport office. After checking the bike in Islamabad I will
head for India.I am looking forward to seeing Frank and Christina and my sister there. Not to mention having a proper drink!!! Thanks to everyone who sent emails re the earthquake, it is nice to know you are
thinking of me. Both I and the Suzuki are fine. She broke a clutch cable but has now recovered and is still going well after 26,000kms. Love to all Linda |
